Ever since we have been together we, Michel and Miriam Muller, have had a house filled with animals. Birds, fishes, tortoises, rabbits, rodents, dogs and cats. We had a great passion for training our two German Shepherds. Obedience, tracking and protection. To be able to train at competition level meant long training sessions at least three times a week, but I, Miriam, could physically not cope with that. Then our 2 children were born, our son Remco and our daughter Angela and therefore I could no longer accompany Michel to his training sessions. So we did not see each other very often, also because we both still worked, Michel during the week and I during the evenings and on Saturdays. So he decided to stop and the dogs were perfectly happy just being our pets. In the meantime I had already bred a litter of kittens with our white female Nikita and a tomcat belonging to friends. The young kittens were so beautiful that we did it again a year later. We then decided that when our "livestock" had shrunk a little, in a natural way, we would buy a half-long haired kitten and started breeding more seriously. I decided to get my professional diploma in the field of dogs and cats and when Michel stopped training the dogs at high level in 1998, we began to familiarize ourselves with the world of cats. We read books and every now and then we visited a cat show. We soon agreed that our new cat would be a Maine Coon. A large, robust breed, with a not too demanding coat, a friendly nature, not afraid of anything, good with dogs and small children, adventurous, affectionate but not too obtrusive. The ideal cat for us! Suddenly everything went really fast. Our two oldest cats died soon after one another. Michel stopped training completely and to make matters worse, we had to put our cockatoo to sleep after a virus infection. Then Flow came into our lives, a blue silver blotched with white female. She soon made us forget our sorrows. A Maine Coon is certainly no ordinary cat. She had never seen a dog before but soon she became best of friends with them all. Because of her passion for water we soon had to move the fish bowl from the table and the goldfish got a large aquarium with a lid at their disposal. At first she saw the rabbit as prey but she soon realized that he was in fact part of the family. She found the budgies extremely interesting but, like our other cats, she will leave them alone, as long as they are in the cage. The friendship with our children was a success from the very first day, particularly with Angela. Flow kept jumping into her playpen so they could play with her toys together of simply to cuddle. A year later we got our second Maine Coon, Silly. We have chosen her from a breeder in Germany. And that is how we started. Now,a few years later, there aren't only Coons about the house but also some Siberian Color points. One day I saw a picture of most beautiful seal lynx point cat.It was love at first sight. I had to have a cat like that,in those days not that simple to find one,but we did and with Luca the Siberian Color Point came in our lives aswell. It's real fun to have Coon's and Neva's together. Both natural breeds, very social, they like living together with other cats and with their humans. The Coon is very laidback,' don't worry,be happy ' , but the Neva realy knows WHAT she want and WHEN she wants it,but they go great together.
